Randall “Tex” Cobb Roasts Larry Holmes in 1989

In February, 1989, Randall “Tex” Cobb spoke at a celebrity roast of Larry Holmes. In one of the most one-sided boxing matches in history, Holmes won a unanimous decision over Cobb back in 1982. The fight went the full 15 rounds, and announcer Howard Cosell repeatedly called for the referee to stop the fight. For some unknown reason, the referee never stopped the fight despite even Holmes calling for the ref to stop the fight for fear he was going to seriously injure Cobb. However, Cobb had one of the best chins in the business, and managed to make it through the entire fight.

Fast forward to 1989, and Cobb and Holmes are really good friends, which is what made his roast of Holmes even better. Nothing was off-limits, and Cobb didn’t disappoint.
