Blue Oyster Cult – ‘Burnin’ For You’ Videos from 1981

March 2, 2019 By the80sruled Leave a Comment

In 1981, classic rockers Blue Oyster Cult scored a number one rock hit with ‘Burnin’ For You’!

“Burnin’ For You” Lyrics:

Home in the valley
Home in the city
Home isn’t pretty
Ain’t no home for me

Home in the darkness
Home on the highway
Home isn’t my way
Home I’ll never be

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can’t see no reason to put up a fight
I’m living for giving the devil his due

And I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you
I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you

Time is the essence
Time is the season
Time ain’t no reason
Got no time to slow

Time everlasting
Time to play B–sides
Time ain’t on my side
Time I’ll never know

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I’m not the one to tell you what’s wrong or what’s right
I’ve seen suns that were freezing and lives that were through

But I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you
I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you

Burn out the day
Burn out the night
I can’t see no reason to put up a fight
I’m living for giving the devil his due

And I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you
I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you
I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you
I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’, I’m burnin’ for you

Aerosmith – ‘Love In An Elevator’ Music Video and Lyrics

March 2, 2019 By the80sruled Leave a Comment

‘Love In An Elevator’ from Aerosmith spent two weeks at number one on the rock charts back in 1989!

“Love In An Elevator” Lyrics:

Workin’ like a dog for the boss man
Workin’ for the company
I’m bettin’ on the dice I’m tossin’
I’m gonna have a fantasy
But where am I gonna look?
They tell me that love is blind
I really need a girl like an open book
to read between the lines

Love in an elevator
Livin’ it up when I’m goin’ down
Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up ’til I hit the ground

Jacki’s in the elevator
Lingerie second floor
She said ‘can I see you later
And love you just a little more?’
I kinda hope we get stuck
nobody gets out alive
She said I’ll show ya how to fax in the mailroom honey
and have you home by five

Love in an elevator
Livin’ it up when I’m goin’ down
Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up ’til I hit the ground

In the air, in the air, honey one more time not, it ain’t fair
Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up when I’m goin’ down

Love in an
elevator
goin’ down

Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up when I’m goin’ down
Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up when I hit the ground

Gonna be a penthouse pauper
Gonna be a millionaire
I’m gonna be a real fast talker
and have me a love affair
Gotta get my timin’ right
It’s a test that I gotta pass
I’ll chase you all the way to the stairway honey
Kiss your sassafras

Love in an elevator
Lovin’ it up when I’m goin’ down
Love in an elevator
Livin’ it up ’til I hit the ground

Do you care? Do you care?
Honey one more time now it ain’t fair
Love in an elevator
Livin’ it up when I’m goin’ down

The Moody Blues – ‘The Voice’ Live in 1982

March 2, 2019 By the80sruled Leave a Comment

‘The Voice’ from the Moody Blues spent four weeks at number one on the rock charts back in 1981!

“The Voice” Lyrics:

Won’t you take me back to school
I need to learn the golden rule
Won’t you lay it on the line
I need to hear it just one more time
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Won’t you tell me again
Tonight

Each and every heart it seems
Is bounded by a world of dreams
Each and every rising sun
Is greeted by a lonely one
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Oh won’t you tell me again
Tonight

‘Cos out on the ocean of life my love
There’s so many storms we must rise above
Can you hear the spirit calling
As it’s carried across the waves
You’re already falling
It’s calling you back to face the music
And the song that is coming through
You’re already falling
The one that it’s calling you

Make a promise take a vow
And trust your feelings it’s easy now
Understand the voice within
And feel the changes already beginning
Oh won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Won’t you tell me again
Tonight

And how many words have I got to say
And how many times will it be this way
With your arms around the future
And your back up against the past
You’re already falling it’s calling you
On to face the music
And the song that is coming through
You’re already falling
The one it’s calling is you

Each and every heart it seems
Is bounded by a world of dreams
Each and every rising sun
Is greeted by a lonely one
Won’t you tell me again
Can you feel it
Oh won’t you tell me again
Tonight

‘The Waiting’ from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was a number one song on the Rock charts in 1981. It also peaked at number 19 on the Hot 100 charts. It has since become one of the greatest rock n’ roll songs of the last 39 years!

“The Waiting” Lyrics:

Oh baby don’t it feel like heaven right now
Don’t it feel like something from a dream
Yeah I’ve never known nothing quite like this
Don’t it feel like tonight might never be again
We know better than to try and pretend
Baby no one could’a ever told me ’bout this
I said yeah yeah

[Chorus:]
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah i might have chased a couple women around
All it ever got me was down
Then there were those that made me feel good
But never as good as I’m feeling right now
Baby you’re the only one that’s ever known how
To make me wanna live like I wanna live now
I said yeah yeah

[Chorus:]
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you get one more yard
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part

Oh don’t let it kill you baby, don’t let it get to you
Don’t let it kill you baby, don’t let it get to you
I’ll be your bleedin’ heart, I’ll be your cryin’ fool
Don’t let this go too far
Don’t let it get to you

Eric Clapton – ‘Pretending’ Music Video

Eric Clapton’s music video for his number one rock song from 1989, ‘Pretending’!

“Pretending” Lyrics:

How many times must we tell the tale?
How many times must we fall?
Living in lost memory
You just recalled

Working on the sound of the band
Trying to get the music right
Two go out working
Three stay home at night

That’s when she said she was pretending
Like she knew the plan
That’s when I knew she was pretending
Pretending to understand

Pretending, pretending
Pretending, pretending

Satisfied but lost in love
Situations change
You’re never who you used to think you are
How strange

[Repeat First Chorus]

[Bridge]

I get lost in alibis
Sadness can’t prevail
Everybody knows strong love
Can’t fail

Don’t be pretending about how you feel
Don’t be pretending that your love is real
Don’t be pretending about how you feel
Don’t be pretending that your love is real

[Bridge]

‘Torture’ was released as the second single from The Jacksons’ 1984 ‘Victory’ album. It peaked at #17 on the Hot 100 charts, but the song is mostly remembered for the music video below because while Michael and Jermaine are the lead singers on the song, neither appeared in the “strange” music video. Michael was unavailable due to other obligations and Jermaine refused to be in the video. After you watch it below, you can probably understand why. It’s a very strange music video, but it is entertaining to watch. You’ll even get a glimpse of Michael in the video… albeit as a wax figure. Check it out:
