The Goonies was released on June 7, 1985 in the United States and grossed over $124 million worldwide on a budget of $19 million. In 2017, The Goonies was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
It’s also one of our all time favorite movies from the ’80s with so many great characters like Chunk, Mikey, Mouth, Data, and Sloth played by so many recognizable actors from the ’80s.
