In 1989, various artists from Pink Floyd, Queen, Rush, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Yes, Iron Maiden, Free, and more joined together for Rock Aid Armenia to raise money for people affected by the Armenian earthquake. This was definitely one of the greatest gatherings of hard rock musicians for a good cause since Ronnie James Dio’s Hear ‘n’ Aid in 1985.

In this remake of Deep Purple’s iconic song Smoke on the Water, vocals are provided by Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Rogers and Bryan Adams. Guitars featured David Gilmour, Brian May, Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Alex Lifeson and Chris Squire on bass. Keith Emerson and Geoff Downes played the keyboards and Roger Taylor from Queen played the drums.

Enjoy this look back at Smoke on the Water from 1989’s Rock Aid Armenia!
