Pet Shop Boys – ‘West End Girls’ Music Video

June 1, 2021 By the80sruled 1 Comment

In 1984, the Pet Shop Boys released their debut single West End Girls. The original version didn’t make much of a splash on the charts peaking at number 121 in the UK. But, the next year in 1985, they released their first studio album called Please, and re-released West End Girls as the first single from the album, and their lives were changed forever. West End Girls was a massive hit worldwide topping the charts in the UK, Canada, and in the U.S. They would go on to score four more top ten hits on the Hot 100 charts in the ’80s with Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money) in ’86, It’s a Sin in ’87, What Have I Done To Deserve This? with Dusty Springfield, and Always on My Mind, both in ’87 as well.

Enjoy this look back at the music video that started it all. Here’s West End Girls from the Pet Shop Boys as well as a live performance of the original version from 1984!
