In 1988, Guns N’ Roses performed their breakout hit Welcome to the Jungle live at the MTV Video Music Awards. They were introduced by the late Sam Kinison. They won the VMA for Best New Artist during the show, which was broadcast live on September 7, 1988 from the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, CA and was hosted by Arsenio Hall.
