In 1980, Blondie’s Debbie Harry was a guest on The Muppet Show, and she and Kermit the Frog performed a lovely duet of The Rainbow Connection, which was written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher. The song was written specifically for Kermit the Frog to sing it in 1979’s The Muppet Movie, and it actually reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1979.

Enjoy this look back at Kermit the Frog and Debbie Harry performing The Rainbow Connection on The Muppet Show in 1980 as well as Kermit the Frog singing it during the opening of The Muppet Movie!
