On March 11, 1987, Dana Carvey made his first appearance on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. At the time, Carvey’s star was just starting to rise as he was a young cast member on Saturday Night Live, and Carson had never met him before until shortly before the interview. That is what made Johnny Carson so great. He was the ultimate professional and was so engaging during his interviews whether he had known you forever or had just met you.
