Andy Gibb & Irene Cara Perform ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ Live on ‘Solid Gold’ in 1982

On March 6, 1982, Solid Gold host Andy Gibb and musical guest Irene Cara performed Elton John and Kiki Dee’s number one hit from 1976, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Gibb co-hosted Solid Gold with Marilyn McCoo from 1981-1982. At the time, Cara had one top five hit on the Hot 100 chart with 1980’s Fame, and in 1983, she scored the biggest hit if her career when Flashdance… What a Feeling topped the Hot 100 and Dance charts in the U.S.
