In 1983, Laura Branigan released her second studio album titled Branigan 2. The first single released from the album was Solitaire, which peaked at number seven on the Hot 100 charts and number 16 on the AC charts. The previous year, she had scored a number two hit on the Hot 100 charts with Gloria. The follow up single to Solitaire was How Am I Supposed to Live Without You, which was her first number one single in America when it topped the AC charts.
