In 1985, Baltimora released their first single Tarzan Boy from their debut album Living in the Background. The song was a huge hit worldwide peaking at number 13 in the U.S, and in the top five in numerous countries around the world.
Baltimora were an Italian-based act formed by Maurizio Bassi, a music producer and musician from Milan, and Jimmy McShane, a native of Derry, North Ireland. McShane was actually working as an EMT for the Red Cross in Northern Ireland when he met Bassi. They formed the group with McShane as the frontman as he was a trained actor and dancer. The general consensus is that Bassi provided the lead vocals and McShane provided backup vocals at times. The music video below as well as the live performance on American Bandstand featured McShane lip-synching and dancing to the song.
