John Candy and Tom Hanks Impersonate Swedish Scientists in 1984's 'Splash'

There are so many great scenes in 1984’s Splash starring Tom Hanks, John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Daryl Hannah. In one of our favorite scenes in the movie, Tom Hanks and John Candy’s characters impersonate Swedish scientists in order to break into a secret lab where Madison, the Mermaid, played by Daryl Hannah has been taken. Everything was going along as planned until they encounter a security guard who speaks Swedish. The guard starts asking them what they’re doing so far from Sweden, and Freddie Bauer’s (John Candy’s) endless hours of watching adult movies comes in handy as he answers the guard in Swedish with a line he’s heard 1,000 times in the movies.
