The Breakfast Club was released in 1985. It was written, directed, and produced by John Hughes, who also directed, wrote, and/or produced some of the greatest movies of the ’80s including Mr. Mom, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Sixteen Candles, European Vacation, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Some Kind of Wonderful, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, She’s Having A Baby, The Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. In the ’90s, he also wrote and produced the Home Alone movie series. It’s safe to say that if John Hughes was involved with a movie in the ’80s and ’90’s, it was going to be a hit.
The Breakfast Club starred five members of the Brat Pack, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy as teenagers from different cliques in a high school who spend a Saturday in detention with their principal played by Paul Gleason.
