Aussie Paul Hogan became an overnight sensation in the United States in the mid-80s after America fell in love with his character Mick “Crocodile’ Dundee from the movies Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile Dundee II. These movies brought us some of the best phrases from any movie in the ’80s like, “That’s not a knife… that’s a knife!”
In 1987, Hogan was asked to co-host the 59th Academy Awards with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. During the show, Hogan made one of the best speeches we’ve ever heard at the Academy Awards. Enjoy this little piece of Oscars history! Here’s Crocodile Dundee’s candid speech from the ’87 Oscars!
