Metallica’s music video for ‘One’ was ranked number one on the MTV charts shortly after its debut. The song is about a World War I soldier who is severely wounded. His arms and legs are blown off and he is in constant pain. He thrashes around in bed trying to communicate with the hospital staff via Morse code telling them to kill him. It’s an intense and powerful song that was Metallica’s first top 40 hit on the Hot 100 charts when it peaked at #35 in 1989.
