1984 was a heck of a year for ’80s music lovers! Prince was in his prime. Footloose and Ghostbusters were both awesome movies as well as awesome songs. Van Halen was jumping up the charts with iconic songs and music videos from their aptly titled 1984 album, and Lionel Richie was saying hello to us all.
In 1984, I was 14 years old, and I spent hours every day either riding my bike with my Sony Walkman listening to cassette tapes from my favorite artists or sitting in front of my TV watching MTV as long as my parents would let me. Oh to be a teenager in the ’80s again…
In honor of 1984, here’s a look back at videos featuring the top ten year-end Hot 100 songs of 1984 as well as a few more videos of some of my favorite songs of 1984 that didn’t make the top ten!
