On February 3, 1988, Merritt Heaton, a 97-year old farmer from Toulon, Illinois appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. This has to be one of my all time favorite interviews. Mr. Heaton talks to Johnny about why he initially declined the invitation to come on the show, the biggest change he’s seen since he’s been born, and his younger girlfriend he visits when he’s in California.

You’ll also love the end of the video when his girlfriend joins them on the set. This interview is a breath of fresh air and will definitely leave you with a smile on your face.
