Ghostbusters the movie was released in theaters during the summer of 1984, and it became one of the most successful and most remembered movies of not only the ’80s, but of all time! The film made over $295 million at the box office making it one of the most successful comedy films of the ’80s.

The title track on the movie soundtrack by Ray Parker Jr. is also one of the most successful and most remembered songs from the ’80s. It spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the summer of ’84, and it was Parker Jr.’s most successful song of his career. He had previously scored a number four hit on the Hot 100 charts in 1982 with The Other Woman.
